As part of our commitments on the London Borough of Merton Contract, our Camberley office started a food donation box to donate to a local charity. They contacted a local Charity, Camberley All Night Café, who welcomes veterans and the homeless, a service to support people in need. The All Night Cafe’ provides delicious free home-cooked meals, complimentary drinks and refreshments throughout the night and a hearty hot breakfast is served at 7am and customers are given a selection of free food or filled baguettes to take away. They also offer hot showers and a nearly new change of clothing exchange.
To generate more money, the team held an “easter Fun Day” on Thursday 14th, doing a mufti day with a donation of £1 each and holding 2 quizzes. The quiz was £1 each to enter and the winners received a large Easter Egg! With the money that was collected, a few colleagues made a trip to the local supermarket and purchased multiple items that were listed on the website to donate.
When delivering the food, the team at the Café were extremely pleased with the donation and expressed that since the easing of Covid, had not received many donations to be able to offer the people attending the offerings they would usually like to give.
The team have already started the next collection and will continue to hold “fun days” to generate money and donations to offer.
